The State of the News Media 2004
The Future of News
By The Project for Excellence in Journalism
Declining audiences, newsroom cutbacks, changes in content, and a focus on profits rather than innovation raise serious questions about the long-term health of American journalism, according to a this first-of-its-kind study on the state of the news media in 2004.
The study, "The State of the American News Media," was produced by the Project for Excellence in Journalism, a research institute affiliated with the Columbia University Graduate School of Journalism and funded by The Pew Charitable Trusts.
