Race to Execution: A May 8 Screening and Discussion
The UCLA Center for Communications and Community Presents Race to Execution & Juror Number Six Thursday, May 8, 2008 6:30 PM Reception 7:30 PM Screening James Bridges Theater at Melnitz Hall 235 Charles E. Young Drive, UCLA Race to Execution is a gripping documentary that investigates racial disparities that persist in our society and affect our criminal justice system. The film features the personal stories of two death row inmates along with testimony and comments from defense attorneys, prosecutors, scholars and media experts. Juror Number Six is a brief and compelling companion film that focuses on how the media sometimes perpetuates race bias in the criminal justice. Post-Screening Discussion: A forum involving a distinguished panel – including filmmaker Rachel Lyon – will be held after the screenings. Free Tickets and Parking: The reception and films are free of charge. Free tickets are required and can be obtained at the box office, which opens at 6:30 pm. Parking (Lot 3) is $8.
